Your story preserved as art

The most common thing my clients say to me when they book me, whether it’s for graduation photos or a wedding, is that my photos just feel “different.” I’ll let you in on a secret: It’s because each person, couple or family I photograph is wildly unique and beautiful in their own way. Rather than trying to squeeze you in to my own “niche” or aesthetic, I’m always attempting to portray the unique beauty of whoever is in front of me, as is. My goal isn’t to change you or to portray you as perfect. It’s to show you that you are art, that your life is art, that art is all around us. My niche is the way my photos turn out – regardless of the occasion. My niche is my ability to make anyone feel comfortable around me and in front of my camera. My photos are artistic without being forced, because I’m searching for those authentic in-between moments someone else might miss. My work is partly directing genuine interactions, and partly being present enough to notice the ones that are already taking place without my direction. What I’m aiming to create is a true, artful representation of you. I’m not the photographer who will make a big production on your wedding day for the perfect shot of you doing something you wouldn’t naturally do. But I am the photographer who will freeze-frame the genuine emotions and energy of the most special day of your life. I want you to look back on your photos and remember what that day felt like. What that period of your life felt like. What the love in the room felt like. Because if that’s not the point, I don’t know what is.
